Dr. Meghan Marrero wins the James Centorino Award for Marine Science Education

Meghan Marrero, co-author of U.S. Satellite's Marine Science: The Dynamic Ocean receives the James Centorino Award for distinguished performance in marine science education. The award was presented at the 2013 National Marine Educators Association (NMEA) conference in Mobile, AL.

Marrero is recognized for her dedication to ocean literacy and her passion for helping K-12 educators use the ocean as an exciting context for learning science and developing an ocean literate population.

A former New York City science teacher with a strong passion for marine science education, she is an Associate Professor of Secondary Education at Mercy College, serves as president of the New York State Marine Educators Association, and sits on the board of directors for the National Marine Educators Association. Prior to Mercy College, she served as U.S. Satellite Laboratory's Director of Curriculum and co-PI of the NASA Endeavor Science Teacher Certificate Project.
