Dr. Marjorie A. Chan

Dr. Marjorie A. Chan is a Professor of Geology at the University of Utah. Over the last decade, much of her research has focused on examples of sedimentary exposures on Earth that have valuable applications to understanding similar rocks on Mars. Dr. Chan has developed introductory Mars for Earthlings teaching resources aimed at a higher education audience, sponsored by a NASA EPO grant. She has taught non-majors Mars for Earthlings classes, and has offered workshops on its teaching resources in conjunction with the Geological Society of America annual meetings. She has also led several field trips in sedimentary environments of Utah for the NASA HiRISE team. In 2014, Dr. Chan was the Geological Society of America Distinguished International Lecturer and gave 52 lectures in India, New Zealand, Australia, Japan, China, and Korea.
