The STEM Leadership Certificate is appropriate for a wide range of formal educators looking to serve a classroom, school, or district. With something for everyone, Endeavor offers a beginner track, appropriate for most elementary generalists, and an advanced track for experienced content experts or seasoned K-12 STEM educators. Endeavor welcomes others including technology educators, special educators, and coordinators. The Program offers flexible learning for busy educators.
The STEM Leadership Certificate Program includes three graduate credit courses, offered on a tri-semester schedule. Participants complete the program in 6-9 months. Methods of STEM Education is the required first course. Participants select two electives that will suit varied and wide interests. To earn the Leadership Certificate, participants conduct a brief leadership project with the objective of sharing STEM resources, content, and pedagogy with other educators.
Optionally, participants may complete courses while seeking National Board Certification. Development of portfolios that meet requirements of National Board Certification may incorporate Endeavor course content and pedagogy. Endeavor's Candidate Support Providers, trained by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards, serve as knowledgeable mentors.
Endeavor courses prepare educators effectively to integrate and teach STEM content and achieve results with students. Each participant works with a mentor to assist with specific plans for course work which meet the goals of each individual. Mentors support educators new at infusing best practices in STEM Education. All are encouraged to implement a leadership project as a part of one of the two elective courses. The ultimate goal of Endeavor is for teachers to become accomplished STEM educators and to enact change in their classroom, school, and school district.
Like all graduate courses, Endeavor courses require diligence. For each, participants must attend the associated live meetings online (~5 sessions, depending on the course). Self-paced work is derived from classroom practice or implementation, or it may include a combination of other content and education-based assignments.
The special Endeavor Online Community is a meaningful and interactive vehicle from which participants will gain insights and knowledge over many years.
